What is Fulcrum Quant?
A web-based desk for people who trade their own money through Interactive Brokers, typically in the 100K–2M EUR range. It bundles eight tools — position sizing, options strategy building, portfolio sync, risk analytics, drift-triggered rebalancing, asset location, tax reporting and a real-time IB Live connection — so the work stops living in spreadsheets.
How does it connect to Interactive Brokers?
Two different ways, for two different jobs. Portfolio Sync uses the IBKR Flex Web Service, which is a read-only report feed: it pulls your positions and executions on a schedule. IB Live connects directly to a TWS or IB Gateway running on your own machine, which is what gives real-time positions and market data.
How much does it cost?
Three published plans, each with a one-time setup fee plus a monthly fee: Starter is 99 EUR setup and 29 EUR/month, Pro is 299 EUR setup and 79 EUR/month, Business is 999 EUR setup and 199 EUR/month. Enterprise is quoted case by case. Paying annually takes 15% off, and every plan includes a 7-day free trial.
What is the difference between the plans?
Mostly how many IBKR accounts you can connect and which tools are unlocked. Starter covers 1 account with position sizing and portfolio sync. Pro covers 3 accounts and adds risk analytics, tax reporting and the real-time IB Live connection. Business is unlimited accounts and adds the family office features for shared portfolios and multi-user access.
Can I use it for free?
The Position Size Calculator and the Options Strategy Builder run in the browser with no account and no signup. Everything that touches your real portfolio needs a plan, because it needs your IBKR connection. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
Which risk metrics does it compute?
Sharpe, Sortino and Calmar ratios, maximum drawdown together with the recovery period, Value at Risk at 95% and 99%, and Conditional VaR. They are computed over your synced Interactive Brokers portfolio rather than over a benchmark, so the numbers are about the positions you actually hold.
How does the tax reporting work?
It runs a cost-basis calculation over the executions it has synced from your IBKR account, and supports the three usual methods: FIFO, LIFO and Specific Identification. It is a reporting tool that shows you the numbers — it does not file anything with a tax authority, and it is not tax advice.
What does drift-triggered rebalancing mean?
You set a target asset allocation and a drift threshold. Instead of rebalancing on a calendar, the tool watches how far each position has drifted from its target and tells you when a band is breached, along with the orders that would bring the portfolio back.
What is the Asset Location Advisor for?
Deciding which account each asset should sit in, which matters once you hold the same portfolio across several account types. It looks at tax-loss harvesting opportunities and account placement with EU tax rules in mind.
Is it available yet?
Not open to everyone. Access is behind a waitlist, and the first 100 accounts get 50% off. The live demo runs on a simulated IBKR account, so you can see the desk before connecting anything real.
Does it place orders for me?
No. It reads your portfolio and tells you what it thinks — position sizes, drift, risk, cost basis. Execution stays in your hands, in Interactive Brokers.
What language is it in?
Spanish and English, each on its own URL. The Spanish site is at /es-ES and the English one at /en-US.
